Let The Dead Walk

So I’d lined up a 25 point game against Dreads on Sunday to play against his Protectorate of Menoth but when we realised Blue Square Man and his Skorne didn’t have a game we decided on a 15 point three way instead. Perfect, after last weeks thrashing of them 2 other dogs from club this was surely another point in the bag, oh how i was wrong….

It was my first “timed turns” game, i got to say this completely changes the game into a a mad adrenaline fueled rush to the finish line, if you’ve ever been chased by wild beasts (we call them pigs) and got away then you are on the right lines. After the second turn i knew i was never going to achieve everything i wanted to do, so with that in mind and not wanting to loose that feeling of escaping the law i decided to set my self tasks to complete before the buzzer sounded…

I proxyed a Skarlock Thrall for this game and found out 2 things i’d already been told about them, 1 they are cool cause they cast a free spell and 2 they are rubbish in close combat.
My faith in Bone Jacks has been rekindled, i used the nightwretch because its cheep and it has a shooty attack plus its an arc node, on turn two i cast a bunch of spells at Blue Square Man’s tightly bunched battle line through it and if i would have known the rules abit more fluently i could have got another spell or two off before my time ran out, well worth the points.
Seether Helljacks (another proxy) also loved how this performed, after a scrap thrall self-detonated and failed to hurt the Skorne mans Hellyphant ? (titan of some sort) the Seether charged into him gave him a left right combo followed by a free headbutt then i bought an extra boosted attack to finish the job off whilst Titan was on the floor, in the next two turns with the help from pGaspy and his sustained attack saw the end of Dreads’ Vanquisher heavy warjack, but that was all i could muster being stuck in the middle of two enemy warcasters. Shot down by a barrarge of missiles from the Menoth and Cut down from behind by the remaining Skorne our last action was in the middle of the field commending souls to the Dragon…

White Skulls

So this morning i took another step towards finishing my first set of mini’s. I often paint a handful together using the same colours as i’m rubbish and often get bored and frustrated, so getting a bunch done like this quickly is the best bet for me…

Rise of the Machines

So this is long overdue, i’ve had these models for a while and have had a handfull of games with them at club but still haven’t painted them. With plenty of excuse’s and not enough motivation they have been living in my carry case since before Christmas. But after some success with the Cryx I’ve decided that they could do with some painting love, more for the benifit of the other club members who i’m sure are thinking ‘please let him finish a project for once, I’ve been looking at the same undercoated models for the past 2 months’

So with that in mind here is the first pictures…

Bristol Blitz

Luprical !

This was a blog i did on another website once upon a time…….

“He’s comming, I’ve seen it, in my dream’s, so much oh so much blood” Chandel wept slumping to her knee’s in dispair, her brother edged neviously across the creaking wooden floor of their humble little Imperial Shack not knowing quite what to do. Paulus raised his hands to enbrace his sweet sister but before he could comfort her the door behind him was kiched in with the force of a sand worm in mating season, he couldn’t turn though as a large bark from a bolt gun at point blank put a round into his back blowing his chest out and throwing him through the plastic sheeting which served as a window spraying blood in his wee sister’s face.
“What ‘ave we here then ? another skull for the blood god ?”

I’m putting together a small Chaos Space Marine army, It’s going to be a bit of a challange for me finishing a whole army(never managed to achive that yet), I origanally started this army back in the last edition of the codex(when lords could have demon gifts) and after GW changed it i stopped work on this as i wanted a Alpha leigion supported with cultists, i’ve scrapped that idea now in favor of a more Khorne based army, still with a few Alpha legionares and some Dark Angel renegades thrown in the mix…

Well I’ve been busy lately so haven’t done much painting, but at my local club we have started a 40k project, where we will paint one unit/choice per month for 11 months, so will keep this thread going, admittidly it will be slow going but by the end of the year should have a sweet army to play with…

I did a Dreadnought this month, i planned to scratch build one at first but this didn’t go to well and had to get a black reach one done quickly to try a make the deadline…

To paint these i used the speical technique of shadow boxing no really i just sprayed them black, drybrushed with blood red first using very little paint, do loads of ‘coats’ like that, then i used a brighter red from vallejo, rojo sanguina (bloody red) its much brighter than the GW ones, anyway i then drybrushed it with that, once the model was done i used army painter dip ‘quickshade’ its called, the strong tone one, easy….
Looks alright init ? I was well pleased with it, although i’ve just noticed i missed a spot with the quickshade LMAO…see if you can see it

Next on the list, i’ll finish that ‘Rhino’, its primed and ready for the first lick of red paint.

Started to paint my rhino APC to hurry my jolly red skull takers into the heat of battle

Here’s some shots of the paint WIP so far the rhino has been undercoated with chaos black spray paint from GW, then using the biggest brush I’ve got I drybrushed it with GW blood red…..

Started putting a bit of detail on the rhino now…

wanted the tank to look possesed, so trying to get a look where its like the warp is opened up and deamons or lost souls are tring to escape, anyway have a look and tell me what you think, thanks guys and gals ….

Ok so i didn’t do any more painting this weekend, but got some more Berzerker’s built. I’m planning to build another 6 of these giving me two units of 10 altogether abit differant to the original army list i wrote a while ago but building the models is more fun than writing list any hoo

I’ve been so busy lately but managed to do 4 terminators 3 with lightning claws and 1 with a chain fist and heavy flamer, no work in progress shots opps…

Wow i’ve neglected this thead big time, so just a quick update really, its a new year an all that :-

I’ve painted up them other dudes now with the beastmen heads although i’ve give 3 special weapons and use them as chosen in games, i’ve also slipped from my original idea of having a pure khorn army so done a unit of nurgle marines too, i’ll try getting some photos of these tomorrow, anyway here is what i just built whilst watching eastenders (can’t believe Ronney stealing that baby )

Enter the Dragon

Ok so some of you may have been at the end of a severe ass woopin’ whilst trying to handle the Dragon Frogs Cryx, well what do you expect, but we’re not done yet no infact i’m just begining……

I’ve been reading, books Muhahahahaha ! Also I’ve spent all day studying the internet’s Cryxian resources and now i have a cuning plan

Yes I have given you all this warning as the next time you see the undead rise to meet you they will be prepared, rules that were previously unused or forgotten have come back to bare the fruits of undeath, to seek the souls of the living and bind them to the iron.

I’m not saying that the next time we meet it will be easyer to crush you’re useless flesh sacks but it will and it will be so much more… fun

Booh Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha !!!

In my latest game of Warmachine I beat 2 enemy warcaster at the same time ! Wow i hear you cry, that is a supreme feat of awsomeness. So lowlife’s listen up and i will share some Cryxian tactics you could try and use in you’re own games.

When playing a 3 way caster kill :-

(i) First of all, offer to get the other two a drink or some sort of snack before the game starts, this will subliminally insert the message into both you’re opponents minds that you are their friend. Thus they will look to each other to inflict first blood.
(ii) Once step 1 is complete allow the game to comence, dont say too much at this point, rolling low to see who will go first will also help as you want to go last really.
(iii) In the first turn deploy you’re forces forward in a neutral defencive position, but do not engage the enemy at all costs. Defencive Spells are fine if cast on you’re own troops.
(iv) Comment on how awsomely distructive a model from the other casters force looks, but be tackful, timing is critical for this, idealy do this during you’re turn or soon after. Direct the coment to the player who’s turn wont start until after the player who goes after you. (for example, “Wow that Jack has a huge cannon ! is it the most powerful gun in you’re force ?”)
(v) Now just pray to the Dragon Lord that the other caster takes the bait and sit back and watch the two caster’s anilate each other in a mad onslaught of revenge killings, note this will only work if you are not within easy range for the first round of shooting atacks.
(vi) Move in for the kill !

Well that concludes my first dirty tricks tutorial, look forward to more (if anyone will play me after reading this lol), hope you like.

Cryx take 2 in one night :D (Warmahordes battle report)

Well i was at my local on Sunday, no not the pub you low life degenerate alcoholic miscreant, my super cool awesome gaming club

haha only joking, anyway I had two games of warmahordes so thought i would share my experiences here, it will also give me an ideal place to look back at my progress.

My two opponents used differant factions which i have since learnt the names of, the first was a Cygnar faction, we played a 25 point game and the second was a faction of hordes from the Circle of Orboros, we played a 15 point caster kill for this one. I was using my (dirty) Cryx…….

Well I got to club early after dropping some glue round to dude on bass’ so managed to open up club in the good old L Dub fashion, put out a table when all of a suden Chris from dice and Decks rocks up, “hello Rob” hey says “No I’m Rory” anyway turns out he is a proper sound bloke and we set about having a 25 pointer, some how I manage to win after some cowardly teleport evasion from afiximsome and a few lucky strikes on his caster with them other things in my list. Lucky for me Chris knew the rules so was able to advise me and once again I learnt a great deal from a real cool opponent……

Then Matt came over fresh from his victory at chicken wings at war and his excitement at beating dreads and lurkus and everyone else at that tornment at Cut and Thrust earlyer in the day, mad zeal showing in the fire of his eyes “I beat you” he said “Really !? Let’s battle” so we did, in the first bit I let him think he was going to win by cunningly alowing all my stuff up front to die then he moved in for the kill with this really fast anoying dog and his warcaster who tellyported right next to mine, anyways she punched him in the face several times which really hurt then this masive thing, beast, it was like a cross between a wolf and a house, it ran across the table and smashed into my helljack sending him flying into afiximsome leaving them both down and hurt, well that was it then, I was like this has gone too far now, it was my turn so I sent in my remaining scrap thrall’s who much to Matt and my amusement did more damage to my stuff than his when they blew up, I threw everything at them my war witch siren, canker worm well that was it causes everything else was dead or lying on the floor, everything else but one, some call him the greatest necromancer to ever live feared across the globe he was once in a fish and chip shop in Brighton and all the fish came back alive, yes afiximsome, he spent a point of focus to stand up grabbed that meddling wood girl bent her over and repeatedly pounded her into submission with a sustained attack.

That was the end of it I had won I had beat the mighty eragon causally out of hand and whilst reading a copy of the beano…..

Return of the king

So I went away a boy and returned a man, in fact i’m back playing wargames at my beloved club, Bristol Big ‘Uns, so perhaps its the other way around. So some of you may be wondering what the Chaos Wastes are like, well take it from me its not everyones cup of tea, but it gave me plenty of time to read some books and think about all the models i wanted to get my hands on when i return, oh and do some painting too

Books i read recently are the first two Gotrek and Felix Omnibus’, now having read a Vampire novel called Bloodborn between i thought it would be a good idea to read the second Vampire novel, Bloodforged, straight after the second G&F Omnibus, which worked out really well as the book picks up on the story of Ulrika the Vampire who is also a character in the G&F novels. All are great books and can’t wait to see if there will be more from Ulrika in the future as she proper kicks butt, she is one of them characters from a book you can almost fall in love with, i know its words in a book but she rocks, also looking forward to the third Gotrek and Felix Omnibus as the characters have really found there feet, Felix espesally, going from a posh snot nosed youth to a hard core veteran in the space of 6 books.
As for the 40k universe i’ve read more of the Horus Heresy books, for me Dan Abnet is the king of Si-fi but there are some awesome books in this series, whilst away i read Battle for the Abyss, Mechanicum and Tales of Heresy so brushing up on my 40k history, i’m trying to read them in order which i am really enjoying, loving the little references to other books which subtly ties them all together even when writen by differant authers.
Lastly i read 2 books by Henry Zou, Emperor’s Mercy and Flesh and Iron which i thoroughly enjoyed and recomend, absolutly brilliant So thanks to my Mum for sending me all these wondiful books.

Well, as i said earlyer, i went back to my local club and there are a bunch of warmahorde players screaming and shouting about “your 4 minuites is up” and “stop crying and play like you got a pair !” I was shocked, no fantasy no 40k ? More importantly (for me) no BloodBowl ?? But what of this new game ? I’ve jumped straight on the band wagon, purchased a bunch of second hand Cryx mini’s and had 2 games with them, i got to say i’m loving it so far, 1 win and 1 loss (Mr LurkusSpleen), the rules are great, the models are, well some of them are abit Meh ! and the intrest its stiring up from some of the members at club is great, so if your about and want to pass by for a game of something or just have a chat and a cup of chi then we do it all, we do it with dice at Bristol Big Uns

Humble Beginings

Hi and welcome to my wargamming blog, first of all apoligees for any miss spelt words, i didn’t go to school i was brought up by wolves and bears and big monkeys, so heres my first post abit about myself i play down at Bristol Big Uns and noticed a few other guys from the club have blogs, so basically i got jealious and wanted one myself…..

Anyways i play mostly GW games, infact thats the only games i play i would love to get more involved with other things but working with elves, pixeys and spites really takes it out of me, TBH i read alot more than i play, model or paint. I’ve always been a fan of the background in the warhammer games and resently getting into 40k i’ve really been trying to brush up on all the fluff, but fanasy is still my favourate and i’m curently reading through the Gotrex and Felix novels….

So, i will get around to posting up some pictures and the likes maybe do some reviews too but that will have to wait for a while as i have to go and fight some trolls in the mountains, no honestly i do mean while you can check out my good friend Lurkus Spleen’s blog right here
